Sue and Phil Goettel opened Glimmerglass Arts and Antiques in 2001 with the goal of creating an inviting store featuring vintage collectibles and antiques from America and around the world.
Growing up in Cooperstown afforded Sue opportunities to “hit the shops” with her mom back when antiques were plentiful and cherished. Five years of living in England cemented an interest in all things antiquated, long before “up-cycling” was trending.
A world of travel afforded the couple a broad knowledge of artifacts and products from other cultures, and years of buying and selling antiques ensued.
The store in Springfield Center is the result of years of collecting with a discerning eye. Three rooms full of interesting items, including quality furniture, lighting, original art, pottery, jewelry, vintage clothing and glassware are all displayed to pique your interest.

The Starflower guest cottage and gardens is a new luxury cottage, but a very cozy home away from home. We are located in the town of Springfield, just 10 miles north of the Village of Cooperstown. The Glimmerglass Opera House is in our view and is a 3-mile drive away. The cottage sits atop a lofty hillside with panoramic views of lush meadows, valleys, and the soft rolling hilltops of the majestic Lake Otsego countryside. The main house and Starflower Cottage are enveloped with flower and vegetable gardens. Guest are encouraged to pick their
own garden bouquets. Hay meadows surround it all with mowed walking paths throughout.
